Are we just plain unlucky ?
« on: July 26, 2008, 09:37:43 AM »
to have been literally the first team to run into Ajanta Mendis . I know some batsmen were guilty of playing poor shots but that happens when you are just unable to score of one bowler and try to target the other bowler. Hovewer , unfortunately for us , the other bowler was Murali.Surely , we would have played him much better if we had some more videos of his test bowling.

Nope - not sure how it would have helped - they will still be playing him for the first time. Aren't there videos of his bowling and all of his variations already available - he played in WI and in the Asia Cup.

We were plain rusty ... we have two more tests to go... and historically, we have screwed up big time in the first test of an away series....

the trend continues...but our batsmen are too classy to let this affect them.
Only cause for worry was AK's inability to take wickets... he is the key to restricting SL to a low score

i remember Azhar saying that if india were to even draw the first game in an away series its as good as winning. But honestly to see the kind of batters we have simply roll over and play dead in front of spinners is a little sad. I am sure they will come back in the secind test though.

I do expect that the team that is the senior team ...full of the maharathis like Ganguly should be able to tackle a new kid on the block. If they cant do it why not send the kids anyway. They cant do any worse ... and it could be understandable if you lose with kids ... atleast they will learn something for the future!
