From 87/0 in 20ov to .... 219/1 in 40 ov.. 132 runs in middle overs at 6.6 rpo.. PC 7.42, YS 7.0, ykp 6.0 ... no VS.. could be the difference maker.

For Kic and Inoc.. here are the DL par scores and RRR at DL par scores

--
Target   300

DL par score
Ov/Wk   0   1   2   3   4   5
10   29   47   67   92   121   155
20   69   81   95   113   135   163
30   123   130   138   148   162   180
40   198   200   203   206   211   218

RRR at DL par score
10   6.78   6.33   5.83   5.20   4.48   3.63
20   7.70   7.30   6.83   6.23   5.50   4.57
30   8.85   8.50   8.10   7.60   6.90   6.00
40   10.20   10.00   9.70   9.40   8.90   8.20

---
Per DL .. even 113/3 is not a bad score at the end of 20 overs as the RRR is still 6.23. Preserving wickets while being below innings RR till 20 overs is fine.. but not till over 30. As the RRR can climb dramatically to above 8..which is risky no matter how many wickets one has in hand

IMO, while chasing 300 .. team chasing should score about 113 odd runs in PPs and can afford to lose up to 3 wickets if they bat deep.. any more runs or less wickets lost - good for batting side.. any less runs or more wickets lost - bad for batting side. I think RRR of 6-6.5 is chaseable in last 30 overs with 7 wickets in hand

Overall dropped catches and poor fielding cost us 20 odd runs

Good job WN in posting these DL stats . actually they give us decent scores as you always want to maintaint these figures when chasing , and you want to win
The question is after 20 overs what is the preferance:

69/0   81/1   95/2   113/3   135/4  or   163/5

DL says if you preserve wickets even a score of 69 would win you the match.
It would be interestingt o see what does DL has for 49th over if no wickets are lost.

Thus according to DL one shuld be able to chase at 8.85 RPO in last 20 overs with 10 wickets in hand.

that is why I put RRR at DL par score in there.. imo, RRR with 30 overs to go should be 6-6.5 ..anything above gets tricky.

Bottomline: DL par score can say with 10 wickets in hand, one can chase a RRR of 8.85 .. but that is very risky imo. Use DL as guideline to where one should approx be.

For ex, in this chase we will be fine if we score 110-120 in PP even if we lose 3 wickets. Having said that.. we still will need to score 180-190 in the last 30. Just because we do well in PP does not mean we have achieved the final goal.. it is the right foundation... that is it

SRI LANKA VS UAE

 :o :o

18 runs of the over
0.6 Kulasekara to Arshad Ali, 1 run, fuller on the leg stump, defends it to mid on and sets off for a single
0.5 Kulasekara to Arshad Ali, 2 runs, outside the off stump, Arshad comes onto the frontfoot and lofts it over cover, the slow outfield does not allow the ball to go to the boundary
0.4 Kulasekara to Amjad Ali, 1 run, outside the off stump, gets onto the backfoot and pushes it to cover for a single
0.3 Kulasekara to Amjad Ali, FOUR, on the leg stump, this time he pushes it down the ground on the leg side for a boundary. He is not going to die thinking
0.2 Kulasekara to Amjad Ali, FOUR, walks across and flicks it away down to fine leg for a boundary
0.1 Kulasekara to Amjad Ali, FOUR, on the leg stump, flicks it away to square leg for a boundary
0.1 Kulasekara to Amjad Ali, 1 wide, wide outside the off stump again
0.1 Kulasekara to Amjad Ali, 1 wide, begins with a wide outside the off stump

Well it is fine till there. Now one starts scoring at 9 RPO from over 31 . Fielding side knows , they have to protect boundaries , While try to go over the ropes  you lose your first wicket in 32nd over. now the required RR will climb according to D/L to over 10 . with each falling wicket your score goes below par.

UAE knows they have to score upfront if  they have to win :)  just kiddin ..  this is also sign that wicket may be coming any time.

1.2 Sohail Tanvir to Gambhir, FOUR, lovely cover drive. He leaned well into the shot, head over the ball and caressed a delivery angling in to him through extra cover.

Exactly.. that is why we should look at RRR along with D/L par score (which supposedly represents an "average" chase..calculated over a # of chases)

2.3 Iftikhar Anjum to Gambhir, OUT, Wow! What a stunner from Misbah at backward point. Supremely athletic effort from the acting captain. Gambhir had flashed a short-of-length delivery to left of Misbah who flew, his left-arm outstretched and plucked it like a mythical creature. A Youtube moment.

Actually i was wondering if they will have over 6 runs to be scored off last ball with all wickets in hand. But does not look like that. They should still have 1 Run to be scored off last ball.
