He is an inspiration himself, doesnt need to look at anybody... he can look at his career and the various succesful comebacks he made after injuries

yeah - but he still looked out-of-sorts in the last match!

there was no need for him to look like SRT, coz the partner he had in SJ was doing an SRT...

yes he did... but then he is SRT .. the name speaks for itself

he looked out of sorts coz he is SRT?  ;D  ;D  ???

there was no need for him to look like SRT, coz the partner he had in SJ was doing an SRT...

you are sounding like gouravk now... ;D anyway, i dont' care either ways - SRT or SG, all in the family!

and i thought you wont support the teams that has the likes of Pontings in it ...  ;)

i don't - hence i don't care who wins/loses the IPL. i am having fun needling all the fans, if you've noticed.  Mumbai Indians seem to be the "cleanest" team from that perspective.

you kidding me? check my comments on their flaky batting, SA's flopping and AA's bowling! i had written the whole team off weeks ago!

exposing the SG-slanderers is different from IPL/KKR!

If SRT scores against SA and SG is able to unsettle Pollock... my day is made  ;D
I don't care if SA castles SJ or Bravo knocks over Butt

Yeah sure  SRT will have somethings to say like "great performances by those two esteemed gents who have performed very well in getting WC's for their countries and career's that had extraordinary S/R's and send chills down the spines of any opponent and time and again tormented them.  Without a doubt we need to consider those 2 ahead of any other opener since they are the best ever all things considered in ODI's". :D

And SRT doesnt do any of those I guess. I am not arguing with your opinion you are welcome to that, but other than a world cup win SRT ticks all those boxes and better. if you want to crucify him because his country failed to win a WC - as i said you are welcome. no problems.

Sure it is my opinion.  There are few players I will take in a heartbeat over Tendulkar in ODI's again taking various factors in consideration.  Apart from Gilly and Jaya there are Richards and Miandad and Bevan too from top of my ahead I would take over Tendulkar in a ODI game.

Don't get me wrong.  Sachin himself is one and there are Azza and SG and post 2003 version of RD too but not surely ahead of the others I mentioned IMO.  I am sure one day Yuvi and Dhoni will end up there.

From cricinfo commnetery:

Mumbai Indians: 1 Sanath Jayasuriya, 2 Sachin Tendulkar (capt), 3 Robin Uthappa, 4 Dominic Thornely, 5 Dwayne Bravo, 6 Shaun Pollock, 7 Abhishek Nayar, 8 Yogesh Takawale (wk), 9 Rajesh Pawar, 10 Rohan Raje, 11 Ashish Nehra.

Ganguly says he doesn't mind batting first because he feels he has a bowling attack good enough to defend a target.

Kolkata aren't playing their left-arm spinner Murali Karthik, who loves bowling at the Wankhede. They've left out Tatenda Taibu and Iqbal Abdulla and brought in the veteran Ajit Agarkar and Mohammad Hafeez.

Kolkata Knight Riders: 1 Salman Butt, 2 Aakash Chopra, 3 1 Sourav Ganguly (capt), 4 David Hussey, 5 Mohammad Hafeez, 6 Laxmi Ratan Shukla, 7 Wriddhiman Saha (wk), 8 Ajit Agarkar, 9 Shoaib Akhtar, 10 Ishant Sharma, 11 Ashok Dinda.

For this game may be the local conditions have something to do with it Agarkar being from Mumbai.

What is it about Aussies that they have such weird ideas? In which universe is Aakash Chopra a T20 opener, as Buchanan seems to think? If he has to play he should come in when a collapse happens.

Given the fact that SG is a tad superstitous as times, there might an outside chance that Chopra might be retained in the pretext of winning combo....but honestly, he doesn't belong to this format....I think das shud be inducted in Chopra's place and bring Taibu as an opener ....
I agree they are better off without Chopra.  They need to have Akthar, Gul and Ishant for the rest of the matches and have rest of the bowlers planned around them.

totally agree

for some unknown reason KKR is  Agarkarised , they are hellbent on playing him as apparently he knows Wankhede well  ::)
I could never understand why KKR went for Agarkar and Akash.
For Agarkar certainly there are reasons..don't you remember ? For Akash , it is certainly perplexing.!

There is no mention of even the 'G' of Gul anywhere in all the KKR team discussions for today's match. :(...( newspaper discussions I mean).
Are they going to spring a last minute surprise?
Gang and Buch are not known for such strategic gallery play.
Irrespective of whether you are one of the best T20 bowlers or not one cannot expect to be in team after criticizing the captaincy..that too of SG's! Where is the loyalty ? Why can't he go dancing with others and apologize publicly and hail this captain as the best one since IPL started or so..

Kolkata batsman making Pollock look unplayable.  Looks like a great decision by Sachin to field on winning the toss thus far.

you still don't get it - do you? i did not believe *in* any of GC's "stories". i believe that GC spread stories, yes.

i believe Mallya has said something because he was quoted on several websites/TV - i think it is cheap of him to say such a thing. i have not claimed i believed any other "sources".

you get some cheap pleasure taking a potshot at SG whenever possible. i refuse to sink to your levels. i think it is utter journotrash to spread stories like what Prem did with agarkar and SG - i would not say such things even about Greg Chappell, whom i dislike, dragging in his wife etc.

have the last word on this.

What a junk batting lineup Kolkata has.   I do not know how they expect to win it all with a lineup like that.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to have the last word. Please go back and read that thread again and also read the first post in that thread. Only first two quotes were attributed to Mallya directly and rest of them came from his sources. I am with you on this If you don't believe the story from 'sources'. It is hypocritical of us not to believe the stories from 'sources' when it comes to a certain cricketer and believe the stories from the 'sources' when it comes to others.

Actually to be fair the pitch has something in it.  But not a minefield of a pitch.  The bounce is even.  A decent batting side should not lose 6 wickets at this stage.  Having said that let us think off it as an one off thing.
