Mishra picks up a cheapo hat-trick
I mean how close can someone get close to getting a six and caught as happened to Teja. I think VVS and Gilly are missing the trick in packing all the experience at the top.
A batting order of
Gilly, Teja, Gibbs, Rohit, Venu, Afridi, Styris would have surely gotten them over the hump today. Bad strategy.
rams
i dont agree.
the reason these guys got close was using Afridi upfront and Afridi succeeding somewhat. this is an all or none player and needs to be up in the powerplaysto maximise his potential. Afridi is wasted at the lower middle order because with the field wide open he is unlikely to succeed. he may not succeed everytime at the top but when he does he will win matches. venu can provide the pyrotechnics later on, teja can come just after rohit - i dont know much about teja i must admit.
i am going to try and watch every match the deccan chargers play from here on in because of rohit sharma. the reasons in a new thread.
Inoc:Even if I agree with you on the Afridi factor you cannot have your lower middle order to begin at No. 6 with Venu and then Teja at 7 and have 4 bowlers who are all new as well to complete the chase.
One of Gibbs, Stryis or Afridi should have come at 6 or 7 and let Teja play earlier.
I think Gilly and VVS missed a trick there.
Coming to Teja he is an exciting prospect. I think he is a kid with a lot of talent and repotoire of strokes and at 20 he has an amazing upside to him. VVS should let him open with Gilly since he is an opener for Hyd. Ranji team. But it is too much to ask him to finish off a chase of close to 200.
