overall, KKR redeemed themselves towards the end - with a little more luck, they could have pulled off a miracle.

Ha ha.. I wish they had taken a 3 day mid-tournament break from Mon to Wed.

i was fine in the beginning because there was no coverage on TV for the first 2 matches - then cable decided they will show it all free and what else can i do but watch them! grrr.

They did well in the end to at least keep their run rate high. It could boil down to that point for Semifinals.

which is why I said a couple of days back that overall they (SRK+SG) have picked a poor squad and you disagreed.

The initial choice wasn't bad.......due to bad luck they missed out on Gayle and Akhtar.......................Ponting/ McCullum couldn't be capitalized in the 3 matches they played besides the first match.
Nobody can pre-empt so much negetive.

IPL = 14 matches. Ponting and McCullum available for 4 games, Gayle available for 8 games. CHuckter is a disruptive force and useless. They also picked a couple of junk players - Butt and Hafeez. You call this a good squad selection

KKR should have capitalized on the first 4 matches thanks to Ponting and MCullum's presence....which didn't happen.

Akhtar could have been useful ...considering he had to bowl only 4 overs per match.
Butt and Hafeez were picked up later on...............I am sure SG/ SRK will be disappointed with the situation, as it is now....must have missed out on some easy pickings in the initial auction itself........,,with some initial smugness, when they thought they have picked up a great team.

I think KKR leadership is underestimating the local talent. Saha and Shukla are good. Don't chase foreigners..give these 2 and Das responsibilities...they will deliver.

SG needs to recognize this, fast.

It will come down to that ultimately....but I was disappointed with Das's batting. At no time, it seemed that Das was there to take the responsibility.

It was great fun to see the little Saha and the big Hussey competing for the number of sixes...............and Yuvraj almost panicking in the end...........all the past and present captains in the Kings 11 team started giving their instructions all around!

But it is a nice feeling to see my 2nd fav team coming back to win 4 matches...I wish they win this tournament.

Exactly - my batting order would be Saha, Das, Shukla, Hussey, Hodge, SG, Hafeez.

What was great to see is that Hussey and Saha never gave up even when it was 66 of 4 overs !!!

Ishant fined for kicking down stumps

Mumbai, May 4 (PTI) Kolkata Knight Riders spearhead Ishant Sharma was today fined 10 per cent of his match fees for kicking down the stumps in yesterday's Indian Premier League match against Punjab King's XI at Mohali.
IPL match referee Clive Lloyd found the speedster guilty of a Level 1 offence (clause 2) as per the International Cricket Council's Code of Conduct which has been adopted by the Twenty20 League authorities, a media release said today.

The offence relates to abusing ground equipment.

IPL had earlier booted out Mumbai Indians off-spinner Harbhajan Singh for slapping King's XI bowler S Sreesanth at the same venue.

It had also fined Shane Warne, captain of Rajasthan Royals, and Sourav Ganguly, skipper of Knight Riders, for different breaches of the Code at Jaipur on May 1 during the two teams' contest.

Former India skipper Ganguly was found guilty of showing dissent on the field and fined 10 per cent of his match fees.

The Match Referee in his recommendation to the IPL said that Ganguly's act of prevailing upon Pratap Kumar, the on-field umpire, to refer a decision to the TV umpire, constituted a Level I offence as per the ICC's Code of Conduct.

Spin legend Warne was found guilty of violating Section 1.7 of the ICC's Code of Conduct, which deals with 'public criticism of, or inappropriate comment on a match-related incident or official,' which constitutes a Level I offence.

Warne had publicly criticised his opposite number Ganguly for an on-field incident at the end of the game between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals. PTI
