Who is this Tasmanian, Brett Geeves, playing for the Royals?   How does he manage to get in IPL?

Nothing like the first match yesterday! :(
Hope tomorrow's match at Eden......lights up the sagging tournament.
Where is KIC..? :(
He was promising the moon....ICL is better than this...........and today is only the second day.
What will happen in the coming years?!
Poor franchisees.........they will have to cut the losses somehow.

first thing they need to do is remove the media block asap...that itself will generate lot of publicity otherwise BCCI is on the rick of killing the golden goose....another thing is obivously this is the first time so they need to fine tune the marketing....i personally dont think quality of game can not be controlled so only way to ensure bigger crowd is to spread the matches to smaller center . I dont see kolkata having full house for all 7 matches ..but you have one game in cuttak or guwahati, it will guarantee full house .

7.2 Trivedi to Dhawan, FOUR, poor fielding out in the deep, after Dhawan short-arm-jabs one past square leg ... can you guess who it is? Its Munaf Patel, not know for his work in the field .. he got down lazily and allowed the ball through his grasp

Royal Challengers and Rajasthan royals both got royally behind.  Total lack of imagination in naming these teams - 2 royals, 2 kings and an Indian among 8 teams.

Knightriders and Daredevils, though better than royals and kings, sound more like movies.  Deccan Chargers only seems to sound like a sports team - may be because I am used to san Diego Chargers.

by the way instead of dal choorma in jaipur marwaari... can I say too much Rasgullahs have gone into the Kolkata Bengalis?

well if rasgullahs can get you a world record (158 in a t20) plus great bowling that got a side packed with test "legends" like dumbo and duffer for a 2 digit score(including a fab 4 over spell from your fav Dada)  then by all means advertise for it on this DG, maybe it may help the RCs at least who are i think sufferng from perpertual hangover from too much malt :)

deccan chargers' logo is f'in sexy

watched a good game today b/w the KINGS and the SOOOPERRRR KINGS....good fight, kept going blow for blow, 6 after 6.
crazy hitting really, i think there were some 25 sixes, in what is actually a fairly big ground

it was poor bowling that was capitalized upon, till the last 5 overs of the match where super kings really came through with oram, gony and murali. even jogi was alright.

KKR, kings and super kings, even delhi are looking quite strong. and the royals looking like pushovers.
but i think it is stupid to look for trends from 1 game. it is a long, long tournament ahead.

wasnt particularly impressed (like out of the world impressed) by the show so far..obviously the entertainment was good and delhi's crowd was JAMPACKED. but the cricket should pick up. they all ARE playing together for the first time.

in any case i found the spirit of cricket initiative to be a really cool idea. i like that one.

Boss, it is Daal Baati Choorma. Royal food for Royals.

I think both Royals and Royal Challengers will suck .. Royals because they have no batting or bowling and Challengers because of the Budhaus.

So far it is clear that Chennai SuperKings, KKR, DD and KXIP can bat. Chennai has no bowling - even Dhoni admitted that - I see them struggling as the tournament progresses.

Also, as I said earlier, they need to make the game an even match between bat and ball - make the pitches so that they have something in it for the bowlers and move the boundaries out a bit.
I had similar apprehensions about T20 WC where I thought that the game will be reduced to bat-a-thons...but those games had something for the bowlers and were tense affairs.
I think IPL will kill the interest by making it too batsman-friendly. It is boring (and ridiculous) to watch top-edges go for 6s.

I think the Kings undid themsleves by missing Hussey twice.  If Yuvraj had survived, it would have been a really close match, unlike the challengers match yesterday.

BTW, how can Dal be royal?

also with time wickets are going to wear off. And thats when the bowlers will come into their own.

Teams with good bowlers (like Vettori)  will have an advantage in the later stages. Even the likes McGrath can be effective once the wicket suites them.

By the way they never showed Mcgrath's speed live on the gun? Last over they showed he was bowling around 115. Did he ever get into 130's ?

Just think about the scene when Ishant, Gul, Shoaib and our own Agarkar will run through the Dare Devils, breaking them into pieces - we will end up with a bunch of Devils Dared.

Shoib? Chukhter has been chucked out
Ishant ko shant karega Veeru!
Gul ho jayega Gul.

and ha ha ha ha ha ha ha U are now banking on Agarkar. Is par to Mumbaiyya's bhi hansenge!

too much dal choorma has got to the jaipur marwaris, stingy while batting and inspid while bowling

aiyyo. Thats harsh. Achu .. WN maarega tujhe :)

by the way instead of dal choorma in jaipur marwaari... can I say too much Rasgullahs have gone into the Kolkata Bengalis?

By the way my son (he is 7 ) was calling Jaipur Diapur. :)

Chennai has no bowling - even Dhoni admitted that - I see them struggling as the tournament progresses.

also with time wickets are going to wear off. And thats when the bowlers will come into their own.

Teams with good bowlers (like Vettori)  will have an advantage in the later stages. Even the likes McGrath can be effective once the wicket suites them.

When a king is in charge, even the rabbits become tigers - it's all about spirited leadership.  Kaal dekha na kaisa Agarkar ne Challengars ko khatam kiya.  Even cricinfo has a poll as to who will be the best bowler of the tournament and they have Ishant, Gul, Lee and Murli.  Daira Hua Devils ka koi bowler nehi hai.

BTW, how can Dal be royal?
First of all, it is no ordinary daal.. this is panch-maili daal. Try it sometime (not from pretenders), you will understand how Royals eat their "seemingly" ordinary daal.

Second, it is the combination : Daal-Baati-Choorma - that makes the meal grand...and if you add the traditional Gatte-ki-Sabji and Kair-Sangri ka saag to this - you have what Rajasthanis call the ultimate "Pakki-Rasoi"!!

BTW, no one can lift a foot after this meal.. let alone a bat or a ball ;D ;D

I was just kidding but I am sure that it is something to die for even though I am not a big fan of fruits and vegetables.   May be the Royals had the dish before today's match.
