He didnt bat quickly and he frustrated me with his scoring rate. But at no time did I find his batting unattractive. His batting was a thing of beauty then too.

If Chanderpaul makes 100 ball 150 and Dravid makes a 100 ball 80, I can guarantee the 80 will be several times more attractive.

In my opinion, these are the most boring batsmen of the modern era:

Steve Waugh
Andrew Hudson
Gary Kirsten
Michael Atherton
Graham Gooch
Keith Arthurton
Shivnaraine Chanderpaul
Jimmy Padams
Ravi Shastri
Shoaib Mohammed
Andy Flower

What is funny is that most of these batsmen, with the exception of Arthurton, would qualify as players you'd look up to for saving a test match!

Not IMO. He wasnt particularly stylish but he was decent enough to watch.
Unrelated: he was a very very good batsman. He was probably among the top 5 at one point.

Can't agree with Gooch and Flower there....Gooch against India was esp. a lovely sight!

Flower--he's a highly underrate batsman. He was forced to defend a lot of times because he was playing for Zim -- but played some marvelously fluent knocks when given the opportunity.

pravin amre was a very talented and complete team man but he played in an era where this was not respected much. he was as talented as say dravid or saurav or laxman.....and a good player of pace.

I agree about Amre's qualities as a batsman, but he was definitely not a pretty sight!! I think it was very unfair the way he was dropped - following the tour to NZ (I think), where he was picked in the squad and hardly played a match
