Dhoni becomes 2nd Indian wicketkeeper to take 100 catches
Hobart (PTI): Mahendra Singh Dhoni became the second Indian wicketkeeper and 17th in the world to take 100 one-day international catches during India's last tri-series league game against Sri Lanka here Tuesday.

Dhoni, who had 98 catches and 31 stumpings to his credit before the match, reached the milestone when he pouched an edge of Chamara Silva off Praveen Kumar for the fourth wicket to fall in the Sri Lankan innings.

He went on to take one more catch in the innings to take his tally to 101 and total dismissals to 132 from 104 matches.

Dhoni's 132 is second only to Nayan Mongia who had effected 110 catches and 44 stumpings to aggregate 154 dismissals from 140 matches while playing between 1994 and 2000.

Dhoni is 16th overall in the total number of ODI dismissals in a list headed by retiring Australian Adam Gilchrist who has 471 dismissals (416 catches and 55 stumpings).

The Indian captain has 78 dismissals from 26 Tests (65 catches and 13 stumpings) to his credit and two dismissals -- all catches -- from 10 Twenty20 matches he has played so far.

It is good to see the team not make a hara-kiri even while chasing a modest total of 180.

It is time GG be spoken as a regular of the ODI squad from this point on.  Great series. ::cheers::

And there is Sachin getting a 50 while chasing.  His first in the last 4 innings we chased consecutively.  About time I would say for a person whose place is an automatic.  Let us hope this is just a start.

I do not see a place for SG or RD in this ODI team from this point on especially if playing 5 bats is the norm.

Though it is not realistic to except to beat the Aussies winning a game would be a move in the right direction for this young team. Anything more than that would be a pleasent surprise.

nevermind that he was the topscorer in 2 of the 5 chases. and we won those matches

Five bowlers

Five bowlers

Five bowlers

Repeat that hundred times

That is what I have been doing for a very long time .. with IKP in the side, one SHOULD play five bowlers.

Yup and we should seriously look at Yousuf Pathan to do the spin job. Bhajji anyway is only a restrictive bowler i guess Pathan can do that too. IPL will be a good tournament for Pathan to show his abilities. Also i dont think VS OR Uthappa can be long term opening option. Both should play only in middle order.

five bowlers ... but munaf was in any case a non-bowler yesterday ... anyway i agree with 5 bowler approach if irfan is in there. also agree that yusuf pathan could be an interesting option.

Dhoni anyway once called Pathan a left-arm orthodox spinner during this ODI series >:D >:D

I think he just got his words mixed up ...was talking about IKP's ability to take the pace off and bowl cutters.

Let's see how Yousuf Pathan goes before claiming that he's better than Bhajji - both on batting and bowling. Praveen Kumar looked like serious allrounder material based on domestic cricket, but now we know that he is just a mindless slogger. I hope we don't find out that Pathan is another one - as things stand today Bhajji is miles ahead of Praveen Kumar as a batsman. If it is a spinning replacement we need, I'll go with Chawla rather than getting someone unproven out there.

We will need two spinners at Sydney. The question is VS or PC?
Even with 5 bowlers YS is bowling. :icon_scratch:
