RU played well.. they were going slow and steady at that point.. and SJ pulled off a 1 stump run out by inches.. where RU had to run around the bowler

not in the match i was watching, that guy looked good for a slip catch more than just a couple of times and the lets place the ball and run department is closed in his office. lets hope gary can do some batting magic with these guys, most of them seem to be clueless

i wudnt blame RU. Id blame dhoni. he has kept RU out in the fridge for so long. and now the first time he gets a chance we expect him to fire.

please what fridge, he has got all the games so far, he has enough feel by now even the balls faced is not much. that way of thinking says that every visiting team member is allowed failures. then explain how the aussies are able to score from day 1 in a  series. this is exactly the kind of excuse that does not hold water in today's day of continuos cricket. cricket is cricket -you are not going to something different from what you do in the nets everyday - that is the truth and the fasterwe acccept it the faster we can raise the calibre of players.

oh come on ! i cant believe you are serious ! he has been slotted at nol 8 all this while ! how can you expect him to suddenly make the leap to #3 and start firing ?

im pretty sure he was mentally acclimatised to being a #8 player.

RU is being handled the same way that Kaif was handled all over the batting order and then expected to fire each time an higher slot is given...It does not happen that way in the middle of a tour. Each player develops his own style of playing based on his slot and at 8 the mind set is not to tap and run and at 3 its not slap bang so both ways the guy gets screwed.

Any takers on VS to replace RU in next ODI ?

Also thoughts about this :
VS,SRT, GG, RS,YS,MSD,IKP,PC,HS,IS,MP

IMO we should throw a surprise to Ausses by inducting PC , we all know  PC is a wicketaking bowler and Aus batting is going through 200 run patch.
 I have been cribbing for PK from some time , but want to lie low for now.

BTW this match also we manged to maintain a scoreline of 99/4..
Opening partnership in Ausses in past ODI series has been horrible as well, so  ones in this series are not the only one to be harped on.
Before any member reminds us of 100 run partterships , here are the last opening partnerships we had against Aussies in Aussies(courtesy series 2004).
Opening partnership:

7(VVS,SG),
6(SRT,SG)
12,(SRT,SG)
11,(SRT,SG)
103(VS,SRT)
37(SRT,SG)

No. Viru is useless in ODIs. And RU never got any real opportunity. I would open with RU and move GG to #3, where he himself has said he is more comfy at.

I would replace HS with PC - HS is bowling really poorly in the context of when he comes on to bowl, although his figures may suggest otherwise.

mentaly he is not a no. 8 player. please. i can take this excuse for an IPK but not a recognized batsman like RU.
