53 runs partnership so far between Dhoni and Sharma...with just 5 more to win. These guys have really kept their heads and played well under pressure, both of them... The good thing is they have looked absolutely cool and unflustered

Donny says he decided to get IP as 1st change because he wanted to use Pathan's left-arm orthodox spin in the middle overs  :icon_jokercolor: :icon_jokercolor:

Well, they were really lucky in the initial stages of the partnership. Rub of the green definitely was in favor of India today - finally !!!

So how was this from Newrathis? When was the last time we defeated Aussies on a bouncy pitch?

never had doubts on their bowling....test series proved it ...batting ? you are smart enough to look into the scores , one kid batted and he batted very well, others are in the park for quite a long time...lets not get into the S/R and open a whole new pandora's box.
Yuvi as usual is in DPified   state

bottomline - Excellent bowling brought us the game.

both newrathis who batted did well today. Yeah even 20 in low scoring game is good. I am more worried about VS and YS right now.

Out of 6 ODIs in 2003-04 series, we "competed" in 3 and won 1.

Out of 4 ODIs (as of now) in 2007-08, we "competed" in 2 and won 1.

So, we have already equalled the achievements of the 2003-04 team..... (unless of course, we play 6 vs. Aussies and don't compete in even one of them).

LOL.

I think we could easily have won all three or atleast two of the ODIs so far. But this was a great opportunity to get a bonus point .. too bad we messed up there.

It is frustrating. This was a great opportunity for someone like a Gambhir to take his time and score a good 60 odd .. that would have given him a lot of breathing space ... or for YS to have worked his way back into form. Well, at least Rohit Sharma has added one more good knock to his body of work.

Sachin said he realized during the Australian innings that this was not an easy pitch to bat on once the ball got a bit older. He felt the pitch behaved two-paced once the new ball shine went off. So, he decided to score as many runs as possible in the 1st 10 overs when the ball was still hard and new.

Donny said Sachin during the innings break had suggested sending Pathan up to score more runs when the ball ws still new if a wicket fell early.

It made perfect sense. It always makes a lot of sense to go after the bowling upfront especially on pitches that are two paced and expected to slow down as the overs go by.

YS should sit out .
Bahut yaraana ho gaya Dhoni se ....
If the friendship persisits - PK should come instead of RU.

 ;D ;D ;D
Also , don't know how much players like RU sitting at number 7 are adding value at this stage is unclear. especially when we have bats like IKP that can hit hard during those positions when required

PT

and others who dont agree with me.

i as captain would take a 160 total, rather than a heroic 125, which if goes wrong can be 200+

Saab ji,
125 was our best case scenario , 159 was what we got had not abiding by it .. thus it was still a win win ..

i think i had made it clear in earliar posts , that i was not in fovor of exhausting all our key seamers, but to see 2- 4 more overs (after Haddin) and see if we can further pust aussies back to wall.
Also , do differ little bit with JFK (he doesn't agrees with me either ) in the usage at various over numbers.
My point was to give VS still a couple of overs before turning to key bowlers. The reason being , VS may have been come as a more sharper bowler(though he did not).
But once VS did bowl a couple and we realised this was easing up the Aussies , my changes would have been made(instead giving him 4 overs).
Symonds and Hussey did play SS and IS for some time(till AS holed) , Thus continuing with IS and SS when Haddin and Hussey were batting was not the suggestion, as they may have played out both of them.
But anyway I hope this clarifies a bit.
