India playing 2 spinners is quite encouraging ...a clear signal that they do not expect the pitch to be unduly seamer friendly.

AUS bat first.

Australia team
PA Jaques, ML Hayden, captainRT Ponting, MEK Hussey, MJ Clarke, A Symonds, wicketkeeperAC Gilchrist, GB Hogg, B Lee, MG Johnson, SR Clark

India team
W Jaffer, R Dravid, VVS Laxman, SR Tendulkar, SC Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh, wicketkeeperMS Dhoni, captainA Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, Z Khan, RP Singh

I am looking at the pitch, the batting pitch. Is the pitch in the middle of the ground? It doesn't look so.

hmm, so these two had a scratchy start but now look set for a huge stand. kumble's field placing has been a bit baffling.

Kumble on. I didn't see too many issues with the pitch. Barring something spectacular, I think we are in for a long haul on the field.

RPS bowling tripe here -- too short, too wide or down leg.

he needs to be changed

We dont have too many bowlers to fall back on ... having played only two seamers!!

This is the big difference between Australia and other sides ... whatever be the pressure that they may be under .. they WILL punish poor or even average bowling ... by running singles and putting away the loose balls.

anyway, RPS makes a good comeback after tea .. gets Clarke ... and Symonds looks quite edgy and aggressive out there .. if we can pick him up now, it would be a great two sessions for India

i agree. most australian pitches favour aggressive batting ... i hope the intent is there on the part of the indian batsmen .. that is the reason i was happy on seeing the practice match against victoria .. despite the early wickets .. the intent was definitely positive .. except for RD who was looking to just hold one end up.

No reason we should not ... if the batsmen pull their weight. I think the bowlers will take care of their end.
