toney, i am a big rehman fan too ... and I personally do not have any issues with a singer’s voice being modified by the music director as long as it enhances the impact for me. And, as long as the singer has been informed about it, I do not see any reason to create an issue. Anyone who does not like it, and I can understand that some singers would not, is free not to sing!!

Bheegi bheegi raaton mein meeti meeti baaton mein, aisi barsaaton mein kaisa lagta he, ah?

Yes. That was RD urf pancham ... pure genius if you ask me. The sound of his music, even before all the current gadgets came up, would put a lot of current music directors to shame ... I think he can have a whole new thread entirely dedicated to him!!

Another one from the same movie (Ajnabi) - Hum Donon Do Premi Duniya beep Chale

I forgot the singer's name. He was there in the late 50s, early 60s.
The song is Bekaraar Karke humen yoon na jaaiye, aapko hamaari kasam laut aaiye.

I loved it when during work, this one used to come on the FM channel there; IMO, that was the best FM channel ever. Office hours used to go by nicely, especially the 11-noon when it was almost entirely KK,Rafi,Mukesh

That is Hemant Kumar....famous for his songs in the Dharmendra starrer 'Anupama'.

Hamanta Mukherjee's Hindi CD compilation is one of the best.

So is Mukesh's. One of my top 3.

Bouncer, I dont know why. I used to be a huge Mukesh fan till, over the last 6-7 years, I converted to be a crazy fan of KK and Rafi. I am not an expert on music but I feel Mukesh's songs all have a similarity and a melancholy. This includes even his high-spirited songs such as "Dum dum diga diga". While songs like "Jaane Kahaan Gaye Woh Din" and "Taal Mile Nadi Ke Jel Mein" always produce the desired effect, I frankly get bored by a huge number of his other songs.
