Kishore Kumar
« on: March 08, 2006, 12:29:18 PM »
I am a fan of the great Kishore Kumar, like many of you.
Can you imagine life without his songs?!
"Versatile singer and a man of different moods!
Kishore Kumar the legend ....
Many articles in the past have been published projecting varied perspectives of Kishore Kumar, they called him eccentric, they called him very human, romantic......
But what overwhelmed it all was his "Golden Voice" that gave us so many songs that are beyond par excellence.......
The depth, the emotion, the mettle, the voice, the incomparable Kishore Kumar the Legend Kishore Kumar's passing on Oct 13, 1987 left a void that could never be filled."

A nice site out of many here...http://www.yoodleeyoo.com/index-1.php

I wish we can make this space a good meeting point for like minded fans!

I honestly cannot choose one favourite. Even top ten is a pretty difficult thing to arrive at.
The song that came to mind now is "Jeevan se bhari theri aankhein..."

The thing is, there is one song for every mood, from KK.
Rafi comes a close second and Manna De completes the top 3 Hindi singers for me.

However, in terms of sheer talent and results, Yesudas is in a league of his own.

I agree with you on the triology or the trinity of Hindi film music. But in the immortal words of Anil Biswas "uchcharan ka utna hi mehatva hai jitna ke sur ka" meaning that pronounciation has as much importance as sur and KJY was bad with his hindi diction.

Nadiya se Dariya is a real masti type song...with a deep meaning.
Ofcourse I love so many other songs ..that my special collection itself is about 7 GB...in mp3. I have a great collection of his duets also.
Besides ofcourse I enjoy Mohd. Rafi, Manna Dey, Mukesh.
Yesudas is great too.
I am looking for 2 particular songs of Mohd. Rafi, which I have not got yet.

Actually, KJY was immensely popular among N Inidna fans and his decision to move from there was forced on him. It is an open secret that a few peple felt rather insecure about his success. And of course, KJY can never mimic a local accent (this is not necessarily the coreect pronounciation either) but his Hindi wasnt as bad as you say.

Blwe, which Rafi songs are you looking for? I might just have them as mp3s.

toney, some of Yesudas's songs are absolutely immortal. But I am a die-hard Kishore fan, so keep listenning to him most of the time.
BTW....the Rafi songs which I am looking for are rather odd....I'll list them below:
1. Jaa Dile Diwaana, Rut Aayi Hai bahar ki.....( composer is Chitragupt, I don't know which film);
2. Dil Bekaraar Saa hai...............Jabse Tumhe Dekha Sanam...( I don't know which film, but the hero was Feroz Khan).

Thanks Toney in advance even if you don't have them. I have a few Rafi mp3s. Let me know, if you are loking for any.

I forgot the singer's name. He was there in the late 50s, early 60s.
The song is Bekaraar Karke humen yoon na jaaiye, aapko hamaari kasam laut aaiye.

I loved it when during work, this one used to come on the FM channel there; IMO, that was the best FM channel ever. Office hours used to go by nicely, especially the 11-noon when it was almost entirely KK,Rafi,Mukesh

Blwe, we should probably have a sticky thread each for songs, English movies and Hindi movies. Do you think you can combine all the threads for these?

On Yesudas, do you know which was the last song that he sang in Hindi movies. I think it is “O Bhanware” of Daud. Has there been any song after this one that you know of?

k-i-c, I think that was the one. I think the song from Indian (Tamil is pacha kiligal....)was another one he sang in the last decade. But I read somewhere that he wasnt going to work with AR Rehman anymore because he obviously wasnt impressed with Rehman's electronic modifications to his voice. Yesudas is very picky about what directors do to his voice. Even when he does stage shows, he has a whole team including full time engineers!! But I personally thought he went overboard with the Rehman comment, especially if AR had already communicated to him about this. Maybe, I am too big a fan of AR to find fault with him ;)
