Did Aussies err in enforcing a follow-on. If SL can get a 150+ lead, Aussies may be in trouble against Murali on Day5  ::cheers:: ::cheers::

Yes. Not Aus but Ponting erred. He & Hayden could have scored centuries and there by  improved their averages a bit more. I would be very surprised if Aus doesn't win by Innings & 100 runs.

I just got a lil excited with a 41/0 start by SL  ;D ;D

But seriously, our batting lineup is way better than this SL batting lineup. It looks quite poor apart from Sanath, Atapattu and Jayawardane. So, our batting will do much better.

May be in Sydney and Adelaide. But not in Melbourne (except for VS's 190+, our batting effort was average in last Melbourne Test) & definitely not in 1st innings in Perth. 2nd Innings in Perth is much easier, only if we can score a little over 200 in first innings. If we get all out for 100-120, then our bowlers will not have the burden of bowling in the 2nd Innings.

But Perth has become increasiungly flat of late and less of a threat bounce-wise. I like the Aussie pitches overall - all of them are ideal cricket surfaces IMO - something in it for fast bowlers, spinners, and batsmen.

Perth 1st innings is still difficult, specially if we bat first. But our batsmen can score only on patta wickets ;), not on ideal cricket surfaces. Recently, they are failing even on spin friendly pitches.

Last 3 matches on Perth, 1st Team innings i.e 1st & 2nd match innings:

1 Aus 381     90.5   - W 1st Test  Aus v Pak 2004/05 [1726]
2 Pak 179     77.3   - L
1 Aus 258     75.2   - D 1st Test  Aus v SA  2005/06 [1777]
2 SA  296     81.2   - D
1 Aus 244     71     - W 3rd Test  Aus v Eng 2006/07 [1821]
2 Eng 215     64.1   - L

Fortunately, only Aus batted first in all the 3 matches. Still in 2 matches, they scored around 250 (Imagine if we have to bat first).  While only SA scored around 300 in the 2nd match innings and Eng & Pak scored around 200 in 2nd match innings.

Our bowlers also should be good enough to restrict Aus to around 400-450. If we allow them to score as they have done against SL then its going to be downhill all the way. ;D

Our bowlers are good. In fact all our players are good. (almost) I would say that if SL had the talent of India and India had the planning and sense of SL that would have made a combination that would have troubled the Aussies.

Unfortunately we will probably have a madman on tour.

That might be true but even given that they are a much more organized team than us.

Why does he say that? Because he was dropped from the team earlier?? Or because he did not get many games in that run to the WC2007 final?

I dont know .. of course, they may have issues we do not even know about, but overall, the SL team seems to have evolved quite well over the last few years. Especially, on the bowling side, I think they have handled pacers such as Malinga and Fernando quite well.
