Coming Soon.. PP's interview sessions with GC at Jaipur..
« on: November 05, 2007, 05:59:44 PM »
I think this DG will prosper now.. we should have enough fodder to keep us busy for the next few years. Dex, please prepare yourself to pay for the next few years of hosting fees!!

From PP's blog..

Just back, after three days in Jaipur—fun, but damned tiring, days. You had to be at the ground before 7; the morning sessions ran on till 9.30 and by the time it was wrapped, and you spent some time with Greg Chappell and the five Indian coaches to get a sense of what that session was about, it was close to 11—just time enough to drive to the hotel, shower, grab something to eat and then back to the ground, for the next session beginning at 3, and going on till 5.30 or later. Add to it a couple of long dinners with Chappell and Ian Frazer, spent talking cricket and anything else, and I came back with a tape recorder full of stuff, and a massive backlog of rest/sleep. Transcribing the former, and also organizing the photographs and videos we shot into some kind of order, should take a good part of the next two days; hopefully, we will have the story ready to run by Thursday, latest.

Who the heck are these Indian coaches? Are they employed by Rajasthan or by BCCI? If by later what are they doing there?

Sort of unrelated -- in Indian soccer desi coaches trained abroad have done better than phoren ones. BCCI should send out coaches to Australian and British academies.

Yes Prof - I completly agree with this approach. This way you have somebody who know you well and finds out what Phoren deshes do differnt to excel.
One can come back and give to team the Phoren techniques in Desi way.

Is this academy setup to train coaches or players?

No, he is a coach.

He had a meeting of minds -- and exchanged notes regarding the "art of spin"   ;D

PP has copied all of CP's points (rather all the different ways of arguing for SG's exclusion) and now has moved on to a new source  ;D  ;D

Is this true in recent times?

I thought the two most successful coaches in recent times were Stephen Constantine and, now, this recent bout of success has come after Bob Houghton took over.

Of course, "success" is an often maligned word.
