Hussey endorses ..... Gamebience
« on: October 29, 2007, 03:56:15 PM »
Cricket Life 2007-08 is a Cricket-based real-life sports/strategy/simulation Game developed by Canada-based Gamebience. The game, which is currently being marketed as 'Cricket Life 08' has been endorsed by Australian Cricketer Mike Hussey.

Developed by a Canadian developer, Gamebience, Cricket Life 08 is a PC-based sports/strategy real-life simulation game that revolves around the life of a cricket player. The game allows users to play through the life and career of an existing player (from any major country) or even create a new player. It allows the gamers to control all major aspects of a career player. There are three major categories of the game control. While it allows the gamers to play the game as any other cricket game, it also has further additions such as the ability to control the personal life of a cricket player.

The career player can earn money through signing club deals, sponsorship contracts and media deals, apart from the regular income from playing cricket matches. The hard-earned money can be invested into private business and let the assets grow while the player continues to play on-field.

Gamebience has released the system requirements for the game on their website. Due to the heavy game content with over 8-GB of data in 2 DVDs, they have suggested system requirements of over 1.8 Ghz/1 GB RAM/256 MB video card.

The ultimate goal of the game is to become the greatest Cricket player - in the Professional life by making records, in the Personal life by becoming the richest cricketer, or by doing both.

But the site has nothing but a few low-detail screens?

And for 8 GB they better come up with something better than stupid EA-sports-like polygon models.

there is another game called The Art of Cricket in development that seems to have far more promise.

Refreshing to hear that title here. I am on the team of that game and a keen follower, are any of you people active members of planetcricket, would be interested to know your usernames.

A tip, do not ask for the release date or price. There is a thread on planetcricket called 'Release Date' in the TAOC sub forum and it adresses both. We get about three of those posts per week from numerous different members.

An update on TAOC is that the last two months have been empty with development with Paul and Kartik (two people in charge of the game, the former doing all the work pretty much with animations and code and the latter making bats, adboards, stadiums and being an organiser) have hectic schedules before then. Bowling and batting is largely done. All that is left is continual bug fixing which takes place throughout the project, fielding, menus/overlays, making the game editable and final tweaks including abilities for players.

Back onto Cricket Life 08, the graphical engine is that of Cricket 07, we can assume that EA sold it to them and so EA's latest game is being made from scratch. There are rumours that there is a large base in India for the development of the game but this is yet to be confirmed as HB Studios are still the official makers of the game. Interestingly, their contract with EA runs out in January.

Already released on the Xbox360 in India. In fact, it is the exact same game as Ricky Ponting Cricket 2007 (Australia) and Brian Lara Cricket 2007 (The rest of world). The only differences is that it is only available for the Xbox360 in India and the menus.

The game(s) were made by Codemasters with Yuvraj Singh Cricket 2007 published and distributed by microsoft.
