this is exactly why sachin and ganguly have to start the way they do against the aussies

i thought we have a young brigade who apparently are much better in handling opening overs and can score at 90% ....can someone please help me in spelling out those names ?

Now don't be too picky. RU's SR was 83%. Isn't that good enough for you?

And now we have helped Gilly create a record for most dismissals.

At home with pathan

Irfan Pathan, who didn’t attend practice,  hosted some of his team-mates at his home for dinner Tuesday.

Robin Uthappa, Dinesh Karthik, Rohit Sharma and Zaheer Khan were the players who went to Irfan’s home for dinner. Others stayed put at the team while Rahul Dravid, who was accompanied by his wife Vijeta and son Samit, decided to do some shopping.

Does this mean that the Maharathis dont get along with Pathan? Or are they jealous of his recent success? Picking shopping over going to a friend's house? Wow.

Bechare Pathan ke chotte se ghar main yeh maharathi kahan se samayenge ;) ;)

Kya Miyan ... ghar chhota hone se kya hota ... dil bada hona chahiye.

For example aap jaise maharathi is always welcome in my small house. Lekin aap is minnow ko yaad hi nahin karte :)

Atleast one channel showed the entire team at IP's house...IP's mother talking to MSD and RD picking up his plate of goodies etc.,...not sure what these guys report...unless it was a day earlier..It was also reported that some players visited IKP's house a day earlier too...

Wish the reporting is restricted to cricket on the field...too much is being made out of nothing.....
And I am sure, there will be posts here which question the attitude of some of the players who were not mentioned in this report   :-\

There was a half-hour debate on TimesNow as to whether the dinner at IP's place made the players lethargic and caused this batting collapse  ;D ;D ;D

                    Vanquished at Vadodara

The competitive sport of Free Diving is practiced by an earnest few and perhaps seen by fewer. For the uninitiated it is where people dive to great depths in the ocean/sea and come back up to the surface, all this while holding their breath!
At Vadodara yesterday, the Indian innings went into such a dive in the first over but never resurfaced leaving Indian supporters holding their breath in dismay.
The day began quietly enough with Dhoni winning the toss and opting to bat on a wicket that ‘experts’ said was worth 350. Now whether they were trying to stretch the score to as many matches as Tendulkar has played is a moot question.
Ganguly who has left no one in doubt that he is the ‘God of the offside’, yesterday left no one in doubt that he is the ‘Devil between the wickets’. Play to your strength seems to be Dhoni’s mantra but putting slow Indian legs against speedy Aussie one’s is bound to be a no contest.
In a touch of irony, Dravid happens to be the brand ambassador for the Bank of Baroda. On yesterday’s performance the only place they would have found some value is to use his score in their balance sheet under ‘non performing assets’. Did he chuck away a lot more than his captaincy?
Yuvraj seems to have spent more time behind the wheel of his Porsche than at the nets as would appear from his innings.
Dhoni found that his shoulders were not quite as broad as the Banyan tree that is venerated in these parts.
100 in 400 would have been the wish of the fans but the little big man could only muster up a 40. It seems we always expect more than he can deliver. Such is the stature of the man and the nature of the fan in India.
Pathan and Zaheer did enough with the bat for a few locals in the crowd to beam, but hardly enough to wipe off the gloom on the faces of the rest in the country.
The Aussie innings began a chase of a score they must have found embarrassingly easy. Hayden on one leg it seemed could bat better than an Indian with two.
Surprisingly there was a lot of turn on the wicket but the Indian spinners looked like two puppies that had an unhusked coconut between them and did not know quite what to do with it.
There is a saying that if batsmen are short of runs then a game against India is just the tonic they need. Gilchrist and Ponting had a dose of it and now look strong for the rest of the series.
Towards the middle of the Australian innings, fans could be seen making a beeline for the exit and rumor has it that they wanted to catch ‘Chake De India’ at the local cinema to salvage a bad day.
If there is any pride left in the Indian team then surely they must play for it in the remaining two matches. Australia can now not lose; there is no reason why we should either.

Dravid had a 13 off 14 balls ... not a bad SR. Heck even the duck was made in ONE ball (as opposed to the legendary innings of 0 in 4 balls). So strike rate cant save you from being a maharathi
