The value of SG and SRT's bowling and slip catching will only be realised after they retire from the ODI game. I mean, they have been very ordinary in the slips this series and its affected the results. If you take out SG and SRT, tell me which of the bowlers will you bowlas the 6th bowler in Australia, SA,England,NZ? You need folks who can bowl medium pace, but all the part timers we have had in the side in the past 5 years have been spinners. Don't count JP,sodhi etc in this list we always called them all rounders. A good bench mark of this was, did we ever go in with 5 batsmen and have one of JP, Sodhi or RObin in those 5 batsmen? No.

Once these two retire all talk of 7 batsmen will go out of the window unless we get VS back ( his fielding is all aloo paratha though thats the worry), Yuvi and find one batsan that can bowl military medium pace. Else we will play 1,2,3 all rounders like IKP etc.

Of course, in the case SRT , he can bowl everythings so thats a huge plus.

And you all laughed at Kiran More?

past tense?

Yes, past tense because it referred to laughing at him in the past when he mendaciously justified Ganguly's selection with an "all-rounder" tag. If someone chooses to continue to laugh at him, that seems well past the due date!

No sir, that dhakkan had said that SG had been picked as a 'bowling all-rounder' and he was competing with the likes of ZK. It's like picking Pawar or Chawla or Kumble or Bhajji as a 'batting allrounder'. Btw, I still continue to laugh at him...and RSD and Bedi and of course the greatest cricket coach ever to grace the face of earth, GC.

I agree SG is the best part time bowler in history of cricket .

RD was at fault not to give him the ball more often after his return .
should we close this thread now and start the next one as stated

"Was Ganguly the best captain at using part time bowlers "

LOL .. I beat you to it by 6 posts

Even from this point of view, relieving Dhoni of wicket-keeping makes sense. He can bowl brisk medium pace.

That doesn't change anything ...
He will still remain the best part time ODI bowler ever. .. Try to compare him with Yuvi .. or a full time bowler in AA ..

Yeah .. we need to really list down who our full time and who our part time bowlers are.

AA, MP, RPS are gradually turning into part time bowlers

How about going with 8 batsmen and 3 bowlers in the game at lords ? clearly 7-4 worked better than 6-5 ...

Aussies are the best .. they have 10 batsmen and at least 7 bowlers in every match.

Of course, it helps that 10 of them are psychos and one is superman
