The media & Indian team management were happy when it was told by Kishore Pradhan that it will be a feast for spinners from 3rd day onwards and Indian victory will be very easy. But nothing of that sort happened. Pacer Hoggard teared the Indian batting apart with his 6 wickets. Till now, out of the 23 wickets, only 6 wickets were taken by spinners.

Here is what Kishore Pradhan has to say about it:

What can I do, if they don't play well. BCCI committee asked me to see that there will be no grass. We did the same thing. If they win, all the credit goes to the players and if they lose, they will blame the curator. This is a true Test track. See the England players. How good are they playing? There was some moisture on the pitch due to the rain on the night before 3rd day. If singles were taken to cause problems to bowlers, the bowler will think of where to bowl the next ball. If the batsman gets into total defence, bowler will get more confidence. You have seen how each player played. I don't want to talk about any particular player. But I can tell you once again, this is a good track. It will be the same on 5th day as well. If they don't bat well, any good batsman will easily get out. Still, the position would have been different, if Ind had won the toss & batted first.

One ex-cricketer said "Normally 15 inches bricks will be used under the pitch. In Nagpur, 30 inch bricks are used for all the 3 pitches. So, even though it is a spin pitch, it has good bounce and is helping fast bowlers".

Generally, the pitch has played pretty well and the reverse swing available due to the roughness of the surface was really nice (speaking from a general standpoint that it is good if the pacers have something when the ball is old; not speaking from a tactical standpoint against the English who obviously are better exponents of the art).  The one problem with the surface is the slowness.  It really hinders strokeplay and also hinders bowlers, giving batsmen too much time to adjust to the ball off the surface.  Similar conditions with a bit more pace and carry through to the keeper would be ideal.

Looks like Kishore Pradhan is a better thinker of the game than our players and coach !!!!

But you know what? One unnamed ex-cricketer in the same article said "Normally 15 inches bricks will be used under the pitch. In Nagpur, 30 inch bricks are used for all the 3 pitches.
