Senior Indian Players and their dirty laundry
« on: March 02, 2006, 09:27:44 PM »
Talk of our players being spoilt. Reminds me of when Sachin didn't want to pay the duty fee on the ferrari he was gifted. But this is despicable...wanting a break from having to pay Rs. 55 for laudering a shirt/pant. What I found even more hilarious was that a Rs 130 break from the Hotel seemed to have pacified them. It would be real interesting to know who exactly these senior cricketers were...Any guesses  ???  ??? ??

But then again I guess all the Tajs, Oberios and Mauryas bend over backwards to keep them happy so I guess they have just come to expect these freebies. So at the end of the day it's our fault..not theirs they are after all only human!!

Nagpur: They’ve got bungalows, cars and huge bank balances, but India’s cricketers can’t resist a potential freebie when they see one.

At the end of play on Day 1 of the first Test yesterday, a few senior players asked the hotel laundry staff to wash their personal clothes with their Test whites. The cricket board’s rules clearly say it will bear cost of laundry for cricket gear, but not personal clothes.

As a result, the hotel charged the players for their personal laundry, something that didn’t go down too well with them.

The players, it is learnt, demanded a concession. “We will be giving them a concession,” said BCCI media manager Rajan Nair. The hotel too will take Rs 130 off each player’s bill. The hotel, incidentally, charges Rs 55 to wash and iron a shirt and a pair of trousers.

I don't see anything wrong. It is their money after all. Need to careful while spending. No harm in asking for discounts and getting it if possible. Don't agree that it is small mindedness.

While at it, fellas, repeat after me:

All our players, barring Sourav Ganguly play for the love of the game, not money!
Greg Chappell is in India to make better human beings out of our players, not to make money!!

Now keep repeating the above mantra a hundred times a day!

See how your life becomes easier...

Sure. they can. I'm saying it may just be the very acceptable intentions of saving money wherever possible. Nothing reflecting smal mindedness or broad mindedness. Anyways, as u said, small issue either way you look at it.
