I've become Sunil Manohar Gavaskar of the DG
« on: June 20, 2007, 07:29:12 AM »
Now - I'd prefer if people like FP stay away from this thread, but thats like asking a mosquito to stay away from Rasgullahs. So, whatever... (but if he does, I'd appreciate and will delete this line)

But - perhaps I should compose a speech for becoming the SMG maharathi of DG. Now, I can proudly say what Dada used to say whenever he had to defend.

In anycase, leaving aside the bitterness of a few, this indeed was a great process jouney.

What humility, fineleg. My only suggestion--delete it. Then ask someone to start a thread like this--it'd be better for your image  :icon_jokercolor: ->  ::kingkong::

This DG does not change POVs anyway, so no need to worry abt it.

humility: I am now a Maharathi of the SG class, a prince, a Maharaj, and u expect me to show that. Please I follow the great comeback leader now. :icon_jokercolor:

SRT, SMG, SG, RD - the knocks in their 10Ks brought glory to our team. The posts in Fineleg's 10K and our Cricket DG? Cannot call that comparison fair. Congrats!

The only folks who have not been banned or rendered passive seem to be the ones left in the DG who give left handed compliments. Hmm...thats ok.
Thanks.

Please, there is no doubt that Finey has contributed to this DG - without his 10k posts, with 80% grumbling about the team/players/cricket in general, numerous interesting debates and threads might not have been.

I'd appreciate if people here have some perspective.

( I realise that the last word of the prev sentence has special meaning on this DG, but I honestly didnt have that in mind as I typed it, only now I realise I need a disclaimer that it is not a snipe or attempt at extending previous grouse or whatever the hell it was that pitamah labelled it in his DG constitution(al ? :D)

Did you ? Must not have been long.

And why did you ?

See, voluntary exile does not count. It has to be one forced on you for say a few months by an evil coach.

I think the dada analogy or the comeback analogy does not work.

SMG example was better -he did voluntarily not play a test at Eden.

Before the humor in this thread (what better way to celebrate than finey starting a new thread) is lost, i have an announcement to make.

in recognition of Finey's fine achievement of 10K posts, the mods have decided to reward him:

- The Undisputed DG TL Award
- The Order of 'DG 10K Maharathi'
- Some fine new colors (as requested recently by Finey himself) of the mod's choice

This is a package deal - it is all or nothing. I think this is fair reward for 18 months of furious intensive posting.
These will appear in Finey's avatar (on the left of each of his posts) What say Finey?

DD,
If it is really an award (and I hope u really do mean it that way), then I need to choose the "title" and the color.
So, go ahead discuss it for 5am Mod meeting, and then you can grant me the award that will let me choose, rather than try to make "impish dig" at me like sgusa said.

Thank you sgusa. At least there is ONE (and only ONE!) person left in the DG to applaud without taking a potshot.

The rest have been routed out and are frustrated and dont post here that much now.

congrats, fineleg. i still can't believe that #2 in posts (was it LN?) is tottering behind at a mere 5K+ posts. are you sure you haven't rigged the numbers? or did i just miss one of those epic "1" series?

anyway, maharani..er..maharathi fineleg, may your tribe/posts increase!

FL, Congrats on the 10 k.

You must thank FP (atleast once) for bringing out the best in you. After all, he has bowled the most balls at you. Bouncers, yorkers, overpitch, inswing, outswing, underarm, full toss, beamers, good length, bad length, wides, no balls, dot balls, boundary balls, dead balls, arm balls, googlies, leg spin, off spin, skidders, flippers, floaters, rippers, chinaman, long hops. If you are SMG, then FP is Marsholdingarnerobertsnowillianbothomsarfrabdulqadimran..... ....

Hats off for playing without a Helmet though. Please dont retire....

I hereby take a bow. My meager 2500 odd posts have a lot to do with the great mahaTL I've been bowling at, esp her never ending repertoire of jabs, shoulder arms, bat pads, hoicks, swats, etc, all of which have bowled her thru the gate, but left her unmoved, to fight it out on another pitch/day/ground.

And doofus my hat at TL's achievement.

Don't worry about retirement though, schumi. TL will be back with greater fireworks soon, I'm sure. His is a lifetime achievement for a lifetime of hatred.

BTW, TL, I notice you're not posting on the SG thread anymore. Did someone drive you away? Or are you saving your bile for another thread. Again?

So, go ahead discuss it for 5am Mod meeting, and then you can grant me the award that will let me choose, rather than try to make "impish dig" at me like sgusa said.

don't listen to what your clique says... they will let you down eventually... trust the mods... and put on your dayglo...

thought i saw a post from c&b here on DG addiction. i wanted to respond to it but it's gone now?  :-[

I wanted to modify the post, however while trying to do it surreptitiously in the office, instead of clicking on modify, I first clicked on remove by mistake. And then to  "do you want to remove this post" I wanted to say no but in my panic, as my colleague suddenly popped behind me, I said yes and then looked in horror as it disappeared before me. Anyway I think what I had written was something to the effect:

"Going by your yardstick, a lot of people here would need help. I am looking for an equivalent of AA to cure me of this addiction".

BTW, sorry for the mess..

BTW, sorry for the mess..

and i thought...

after posting that, your felt total disgust at yourself, your lack of self-control and how you have enslaved yourself to an online forum full of mere ghosts of people hiding under streams of characters, fighting over people who do not know or care about your existence. from this utter self-loathing, arose a newfound determination to overcome this banal existence and you decided to take charge of your life, your time and not let virtual world of treason/passion and occasional love consume you. as a mark of protest, you deleted the very post where you had admitted your complete and abject surrender to these powers and decided to start a new life - a real, useful, meaningful quest for the truth. i felt a bit sad that you had left but at the same time, felt proud that i had been a catalyst to such a profound and admirable change in you.

guess i was wrong!

Boy, you are a mind reader. I felt  all that you have mentioned and  went thru all those upheavals in the depth of my soul and removed my post, only to realise that in the end you are going to steal the credit for all this emotional catharsis I had undergone of my own accord. And then promptly decided to resurrect my own fallible, gullible self.
Seriously, I am desperately trying to curtail my time here....

In anycase, leaving aside the bitterness of a few, this indeed was a great process jouney.

i find it time-consuming only when i get involved in brawls - else, peeking every now and then is quite manageable. then there is the arcade....but there, i am determined to retire after the grand war.

i jsut stumbled upon an old page of SightScreen that has all the comments as well. feels weird to read my old comments! boy, did Prem hate me!!

Pipsqueak,

The only way I can manage my time better is by not posting, because then I don’t feel the compulsion to check every once in a while.

BTW, it was good seeing the old Mock Turtle with all the *shrug*, *poof*, *shakes head* etc. on sightscreen. You seem to have lost all your steam with your mellowed avatar.

I saw my old handle there too.

Prem hating you  - does that come as a surprise?
