On the lines of the rolling quiz on cricket, could we also have a rolling quiz on other sport?

I'll begin with a question of my own. This one is on soccer [and don't google]:

By what name is FC Start better known these days?

OK. so no one answered. I'll give this another try.

q. The rivalry between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid is legendary. Much of it has to do with the fascist govt. of Generalissimo Franco, whose base was in Madrid and who supported Real and used it to project his image abroad, while FCB was supported by the northern republicans and Catalans in favour of a free Catalan nation. The rivalry also had to do with an incident involving arguably one of the greatest soccer players ever to grace the field. I want to know who this player was and what the incident was.

btw, the answer to the first q is: Dinamo Kyiv. It was called Start during the German occupation of Ukraine, when it played the legendary matches with German Luftwaffe and Panzer teams five times and defeated them everytime.

No but it has no takers.

If you're game, tell me what link exists between India, Turkey and the World Cup

Both withdrew from the 1950 version in Brazil, despite qualifying. ( I cheated by Googling this) :evil4:

Last question from myself on this thread, unless someone responds to one or more of the unanswered queries.
Easy one, just do a bit of wiki trolling...

I have won the golden boot in europe twice.
My father Pablo was a defender who played in the 1966, 1970 and 1974 World Cup finals for Uruguay.
My grandfather, played for Independiente in Argentina and was the coach of the Uruguayan national team.
Who am I?

Dud

Jerome (Germany) and Kevin-Prince (Ghana) Boateng(s) are actually half-brothers, both born and brought-up in Germany.

Your international football knowledge seems ok..................let's try your national.....er......regional knowledge.

Who were the goal-scorers when East Bengal drubbed Mohun Bagan 5-0 in 1975 IFA Shield Final? :)

Uli Hoeneß played in the 1974 final............while his brother Dieter played in 1986.
Although, they played 12 years apart, they are only separated in age by just 1 year..that is, Dieter is younger.

Any answer?

Could it be —

1. Had same number of points as Brazil and Yugoslavia but were eliminated on goal diff.

But that fate has befallen several teams

2. Were the only team from the British isles in the WC, when, for the first time, 4 brit teams were separately considered under FIFA.

Guess it's the second

Well, it is more to do with no.1.

They were the only team during that time, who were ousted in the first round itself, without losing a match.
