Another favourite from college days, this is a song penned by Gautam Chattopadhyay of the seminal '70's Bangla rock band Mohiner Ghoraguli, subsequently recorded under their supervision by Krosswindz in the mid '90's, and now lifted by mujik director Pritam for the Gangster soundtrack!

OK. I managed to delete the original post but here it is again:

A song from my univ days recently recorded by the band Jotugriha, originally called Jotugriher Agunpakhi, whose frontsman Rajarshi Chattopadhyay penned this song, with the tune based on some 60's American pop number which I can't recall now.

Inspired by Dayal Baba, this is a rendition of "Kisher Bhoy Sahoshi Mon" by Pratul Mukhopadhyay, from the poem "The Long March" by Mao Tse Tung.

Below, I am listing some songs which are from popular bollywood movies and can be found on any desi download music website, I recommend www.cooltoad.com. Ensure that you enter the name for the movie correctly, and the search function on the site differentiates between caps and non capped alphabets.
For the last week or so I have been listening to these songs mostly on my toshiba pvp

1. Jag Ja - Omkara
2. Naina - Omkara
3. Tose Naina Lagey - Anwar
the singer Rahet Fateh Ali Khan is a supremely talented singer
4. Maula Mere - Anwar
5. Ma Rewa - Kandisa
The album is a work of now a cult followed band, Indian Ocean. Their music is an amazing amalgamation of indian rhythmn influenced rock with traditional indian instruments and abstract lyrics. Ma Rewa is not so abstract. Rewa is the mythological name for river Narmada
6. Bandheh - Black Friday
Again an Indian Ocean compilation
7. Hanuman Chalisa - Anup Jalota
8. Choti Si Asha - Roja
The God's first Hindi movie
9. Jage Hain - Guru

pitiful. fell asleep. where is the energy? this is what happens when a middle-class bengali gentleman sings revolutionary songs. he was good when putting the nonsense rhyme of sukumar ray to music.

Awesome!

As one movie critic put it, Pritam's mujik is like a breath of "fresh" air.
