Will Indian bowling hold the key today?
« on: May 09, 2007, 11:37:59 PM »
Its home pitch for Bangladesh and all those Tamim Shamim, Aftab Diftab etc will try to go broke. Can our bowlers put in a disciplined performance? That will hold the key I feel.

Other than that - specifically left arm spinners - how we bat against the lefties.

These two are the important aspects.
Fielding - Bangladesh will be better than us, but we cant do anything abt that now.

team batting second will probably have reduced overs due to predicted showers... So team batting first needs to do so conservatively (retain wickets at a moderate rate) and then let messrs duckworth and lewis do the needful.

Since SRT is not there we should not have a problem with their lefties. Yuvaj and Mongia can take care of it.

Discipline has not been shown by bowlers.

I think the spinners have already shown the value of flight. Too bad HS was trying to bowl like an off spinning version of AK! After his effort so far it looks like we may have seen the last of ZK for some time.

Cricinfo:
Sreesanth is lying down beyond the boundary and the physio is stretching is legs. And now he hobbles off the pitch, helped by RP Singh and Gloster. Not good news for India.

I agree. RP is a good bet.

On this, I would still wait. Its only one match.

One match in a 3 match series is 33% of it. Rather than wait for a 66% failure record we can try out RPS or even PC. We should stop giving so much slack to our players especially known slackers like ZK. In a match that is supposed to be a grudge game and with plenty of rest behind him there is absolutely no excuse for any player to have an 'off day at the office '. They had that during the WC!

I am as frustrated as you at ZK having one of his "off days". But, overall, he has been the best Indian bowler since he came back into the team. It is not as if he's been off the boil for a very long stretch.

It is very humid in BD. Prior to start of game, the commentrator standing in the ground was wiping sweat from his face every second.

Sreesanth has suffered from sudden loss of fluid. It is not fitness. It is simply not taking care of your body DURING the game. He probably did not drink enough fluids and it most probably suffering from cramps. Anyone can have cramps. Kaif, Yuvraj, SRT, RD all have suffered from cramps.
